Summary
The short version: we do not sell your data. We use standard analytics to understand which designs are popular, YouTube embeds so you can watch tutorials, and a cookie banner that lets you control what's tracked. You can browse anonymously and you have the right to ask us to delete anything we hold about you.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run and improve the site:
- Automatically: browser type, operating system, approximate location (country-level), pages viewed, time on page, referrer URL, and IP address (collected by our web server logs and CDN, retained briefly for security and abuse-prevention purposes).
- When you leave a comment: your name, email, optional website, and the comment text. Email is never published.
- When you email us: your email address and anything you choose to write in the message.
We do not require an account to read any content on this site.
2. How we use information
- To deliver the requested pages and videos.
- To understand which designs are popular so we can make more like them.
- To detect abuse, spam, and security incidents.
- To respond if you contact us.
We do not use your data for profiling, automated decision-making, or to target you with personalized ads on third-party sites.
4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager via the official Google Site Kit plugin to measure overall traffic and load measurement tags. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. IP anonymization is enabled. We don't share analytics data with anyone outside Google. We do not currently load any non-Google tags via Tag Manager.
If you don't want to be counted, decline analytics in the cookie banner or install a browser extension like Google's official opt-out add-on.
5. YouTube embeds
Every tutorial post embeds a video from YouTube. When you open such a post, your browser may load resources from youtube.com and ytimg.com. YouTube/Google may set cookies and collect data per their policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
YouTube embeds are only loaded once you open a tutorial post, not on category or list pages, so general browsing on this site does not trigger YouTube cookies. If you decline analytics in the cookie banner, you can still watch videos — but YouTube's own cookies are governed by Google's policy linked above, not ours.
6. Advertising
Rangoli Designs currently does not display third-party advertising. If we add ads in the future, we will update this policy and re-prompt for consent before any ad-network cookies are set.
7. Third-party services
To deliver the site we rely on:
- Hostinger — web hosting and CDN. Their privacy policy: hostinger.com/privacy-policy.
- Google Search Console & Site Kit — search performance reporting.
- YouTube — video hosting for embedded tutorials.
- Wikipedia — outbound informational links only.
We do not allow these services to use the data they collect for their own marketing beyond what their own terms describe.
9. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar)
If you are in the EU, UK, California, India, or any region with similar laws, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Correct — ask us to fix incorrect data.
- Delete — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Object — opt out of analytics processing.
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email us directly at simplerangolidesign@gmail.com or use our contact page. We respond within 30 days.
10. Data retention
- Server logs: kept briefly by our host (Hostinger) for security and abuse-prevention; see their privacy policy for specifics.
- Analytics: per the retention period configured in Google Analytics 4 (see Google's policy for details).
- Comments: kept indefinitely while the post is published (you can request deletion).
- Email correspondence: typically kept for up to 1 year after the last reply, then deleted unless we have a reason to keep it longer.
11. Security
We enforce HTTPS sitewide with HSTS (max-age=63072000; includeSubDomains), serve traffic through a CDN with DDoS mitigation, and use Really Simple SSL to enforce HTTPS redirects and add common security headers. WordPress core, plugins, and themes are kept up to date. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we apply industry-standard measures.
12. Children's privacy
This site is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where required by local law, such as parts of the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age of digital consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Significant changes will be flagged with a banner at the top of the site for at least 30 days. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
14. Contact us
For any privacy question, request, or complaint, email us at simplerangolidesign@gmail.com or visit our contact page. We aim to respond within 7 days.
