Step by step: how to draw Christmas Rangoli

1. Mark the 6-to-1 dot grid — a triangle of rows from one dot at the top down to six at the bottom.
2. Join the dots of each row with scalloped garland lines, each tier one scallop wider than the one above, to build the tree.
3. Link the tier ends with slanting lines for the sides of the tree and finish the end of each upper tier with a small loop.
4. Hang a round bauble below each point where two scallops meet on the upper tiers, and hang four more baubles on strings below the bottom tier.
5. Draw a five-pointed star on top of the tree.
6. Below the tree draw a square tub for the trunk and fill it with diagonal stripes.
7. On each side draw a balloon on a long curving string — write HAPPY in the left balloon and XMAS in the right.
