Step by step: how to draw Easy Pongal Pot Kolam

1. Mark the 15-to-1 dot grid — a diamond of dots narrowing from the 15-dot middle row to a single dot at each end.
2. In the centre draw a four-petal flower with pointed petals.
3. From the flower run four sugarcane sticks — straight double lines crossed with short bars — up, down, left and right, and crown the outer end of each with a sprig of leaves.
4. Between the sticks on the four diagonals draw a round Pongal pot decorated with a criss-cross diamond lattice and dots.
5. At the outer side of each pot draw a tilted rim band with tick marks and heap it with rounded bumps for the overflowing pongal.
6. Outside the pots at the top, bottom, left and right draw a five-petal lotus opening toward the centre, with a dot in its middle petal and small sepals and a curl at its base.
