Step by step: how to draw Sankranthi Special Bhogi Kundala Muggulu

1. Mark the 15-to-3 dot grid.
2. In the centre draw a four-petal flower with its petals pointing to the diagonals.
3. On each of the four sides of the flower draw a pongal pot with its mouth facing the centre — four pots set in a cross.
4. Fill each pot mouth with three rounded white mounds of overflowing pongal and edge the rim with a fringe of short strokes.
5. Decorate each pot body with a criss-cross lattice band, a scalloped neck and a small fan motif at its outer end.
6. Add a spiral curl in each of the four inner corners between neighbouring pots.
7. Along each diagonal draw a striped sugarcane stalk running out from between the pots, ending in a tuft of curved leaves on each of the four corners.
