Step by step: how to draw Trendy Creative Kolam Designs
- Mark the 7-to-3 dot grid — rows tapering from 7 in the middle down to 3 at the ends.
- In the centre draw a four-petal flower with heart-shaped petals around a dot inside a small circle, with three short strokes running from the circle into each petal.
- On each of the four diagonals draw a leaf spray — one large pointed leaf with a dot and two small rounded petals — with a spiral curl beside the central flower.
- On each of the four sides draw a three-petal flower with heart-shaped petals and a dot-in-circle centre.
- Cradle each side flower with a pair of long curved pointed leaves sweeping out on either side.
- Add a fan of short stamen strokes at the outer tip of each side flower.
