Step by step: how to draw 5×5 Dots Trendy Kolam

1. Mark the 5-to-5 dot grid.
2. Draw four hearts around the centre — above, below, left and right — each with its point toward the centre.
3. In the centre draw a four-petal flower whose petals reach to the points of the hearts.
4. Along each of the four diagonals draw a straight line out from the centre and flank it with two long diamond petals, one on each side — eight petals in all, with each heart nestled between two of them.
5. Fill each heart with an S-shaped scroll ending in spirals.
6. Above the rounded top of each heart draw a fan flower of filled petals around a spiral.
7. Beyond the outer corner where the two petals of each diagonal meet, draw a flower of open petals with a spiral centre and dot-tipped stamen strokes.
