Step by step: how to draw Best Round Rangoli Designs

1. Mark the 9-to-1 dot grid — a centre row of nine dots, rows of seven above and below, then narrow arms of three, three and one dot at the top and bottom.
2. On each of the four diagonals draw a spiral coil in the corner of the grid.
3. Beside each spiral draw three pointed leaves fanning toward the centre, with a dot in the middle leaf.
4. At the top and bottom draw a butterfly with a striped body and curled antennae pointing toward the centre.
5. Give each butterfly scalloped wings on both sides of its body and decorate them with small rings and dots.
6. Draw matching butterflies on the left and right so that four butterflies and four spiral sprigs form a ring around the centre.
