Step by step: how to draw 9 Dots Astadala Padmam Muggulu

1. Mark the 9-to-1 dot grid — eight straight arms of dots radiating from one central dot like the spokes of a wheel.
2. In the centre draw a dot inside a small circle.
3. Around the circle draw a ring of eight pointed petals, their tips on the first dots of the eight arms.
4. Outside this ring draw further rings of larger eight-petal lotuses, each petal tip landing on the next dot out along its arm so the crossing outlines weave together.
5. At the top, bottom, left and right tips add a pair of spiral curls, one on each side of the point, with a small teardrop beyond the tip.
6. At the four diagonal tips draw two splayed teardrop leaves in a V with a spray of short strokes between them.
