Step by step: how to draw Daily Kolam Designs 7×7 Dots

1. Mark the 7-to-7 dot grid — seven rows of seven dots.
2. On each of the four sides of the centre draw two nested V shapes pointing in toward the middle.
3. Around the centre dot draw a square touching the tips of the inner V shapes, and fill each of its four corners with nested quarter-circle arcs.
4. Round off the inner V on each side into a heart whose point touches the square.
5. Round off the outer V on each side into a second heart and set a teardrop flame in the notch between its lobes to make a lamp — four lamps facing outward.
6. Beside each corner of the square draw a spiral curl — four in all.
7. On each of the four corners draw a rose with a spiral centre, layered petals and pointed leaves.
