Step by step: how to draw Pongal Pot Kolam Special Rangoli Designs
- Mark the 7-to-7 square dot grid.
- In the centre draw a large round pongal pot with a wide rim.
- Divide the pot body into bands — a row of almond shapes at the shoulder, a criss-cross lattice band in the middle and nested chevrons at the base.
- Edge the rim with a row of small scallops and a row of dots.
- Heap three rounded mounds of overflowing pongal on the mouth — one on top of two.
- On the left and right draw a tall striped sugarcane stalk with a fan of curved leaves at the top.
- Between the pot and the canes draw four small flowers of rounded petals around a dot — two beside the shoulders, two beside the base.
