Step by step: how to draw 7 to 4 Diya Kolam for Pooja Room at Home

1. Mark the 7-to-4 dot grid — the widest row of seven dots tapering to four at the ends.
2. In the centre draw a six-petal flower with pointed, shaded petals.
3. Enclose the flower in a hexagon criss-crossed by straight lines into a star of diamonds.
4. On each of the six sides of the hexagon draw a diya — a cup-shaped lamp bowl — so six lamps ring the centre.
5. Fill each lamp bowl with a half-flower of small scalloped petals around a cross-hatched middle.
6. Beyond each bowl draw a teardrop flame pointing outward, with a smaller flame inside and a fringe of short rays around it.
7. Between each pair of lamps add a spiral curl — six spirals in all — to finish the outer edge.
