Step by step: how to draw Rangoli Designs for Sankranthi

1. Mark the 7-to-7 dot grid — seven straight rows of seven dots.
2. From the centre draw four sugarcane stalks pointing up, down, left and right — each a long narrow rectangle divided into segments with a dot in every segment.
3. End each stalk with a tuft of long curved leaves fanning out from its tip.
4. In each of the four quadrants draw a pongal pot tilted toward the corner — a rounded body with a hatched rim band at the mouth.
5. Draw a small four-petal flower with loop petals on the body of each pot, and let a cluster of rounded lobes of froth spill from the mouth toward the corner, filling them with light shading strokes.
6. Where the four stalks meet in the centre, draw four small spiral curls hooking out between the stalks.
