Step by step: how to draw 8-8 Dots Simple Rangoli Designs

1. Mark the 8-to-8 dot grid — eight rows of eight dots in a square.
2. In the centre draw a small circle with a spiral curling inside it.
3. Around the circle draw four heart-shaped petals — top, bottom, left and right — and shade them lightly to finish the centre flower.
4. On each of the four diagonals run a straight stem from the centre flower out towards the corner.
5. At the end of each stem draw a large lotus opening towards the corner — a tall pointed middle petal holding a teardrop and a line of dots.
6. Flank each middle petal with layered curved petals whose tips curl into spirals, and sweep a wide outer leaf with a curl along each side.
7. Re-trace all the lotus and flower outlines in white.
