Step by step: how to draw Karthigai Deepam Kolam 9×9

1. Mark the 9-to-9 dot grid — nine rows of nine dots.
2. On each of the four sides draw a geometric lotus of diamond petals with its petals pointing toward the centre.
3. Fill each lotus with radiating lines tipped with dots, add a teardrop bud at its tip facing the centre and a spiral curl on its outer edge.
4. On each of the four corners draw a flower of crossed oval petals inside a rounded outline — one petal fringed with short rays and a spiral curl in the outer lobe.
5. In the centre draw a small star of short rays and curve four tendrils from it toward the diagonals, each ending in a spiral curl.
6. Re-trace all the outlines in white.
