An encyclopedia is only as good as the sources under it. This chapter is built by reading the reference list of every published page here and counting the works that appear, which makes it a report on the bibliography as actually used rather than a reading list of intentions. Only sources that have been inspected and verified may be cited anywhere in this encyclopedia; the table below is therefore also a check on that rule.
Evidence levels
Every essay and article in this encyclopedia carries a stated evidence level, shown at the foot of the entry. E1 marks common knowledge within the tradition, anchored to a verified standard reference. E2 marks entries whose claims rest on at least two independently verified sources. E3 (primary or specialist sources) and E4 (original synthesis under explicit editorial sign-off) are gates as much as labels: content requiring them stays unpublished until its sources pass verification — which is why several chapters of this encyclopedia name material they do not yet contain. The level is machine-checked against each page’s own reference list, so a stated level cannot drift from the citations beneath it.
How entries are made
Entries are written against verified sources only: a work must be independently inspected and confirmed before anything in this encyclopedia may cite it, and the reference list of every published page is machine-checked against the canonical bibliography on every deployment — as are the internal links and the evidence level above. Each entry carries its last-review date, and derived chapters such as this one regenerate from live data rather than being maintained by hand. The platform’s editorial record is kept in full; corrections are listed below rather than made silently.

Substantive corrections to published content are recorded here permanently.
- 2026-07-29 — How the Hand Learns had stated that the learning ladder “repeats across regions”; the regional evidence contradicts this (Maharashtra opens freehand, Kerala with petal arrangement), and the claim was rescoped: the ladder’s shape repeats; its first rungs are tradition-specific.
- 2026-07-30 — The subtitle of Nagarajan’s Feeding a Thousand Souls was misstated on 32 pages (“Women, Ritual, and Art in Tamil Nadu” for the correct “Women, Ritual, and Ecology in India — An Exploration of the Kōlam”) and abbreviated on 64 more; all citations were corrected to the verified form the same day, and citation checking was made mechanical so the class of error cannot recur unnoticed.
